Computational Quantum Biologist

Quantum Biology Full-Time Remote

Position Overview

Model and simulate biological phenomena using quantum mechanics principles, focusing on molecular dynamics and quantum effects in biological systems. Investigate quantum coherence in photosynthesis, enzyme catalysis, magnetoreception, and other biological processes where quantum effects play significant roles.

This interdisciplinary role combines quantum physics, computational chemistry, and biology to understand life at the quantum scale. You'll use advanced simulation methods to study protein folding, electron transfer, and molecular recognition with quantum mechanical accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop quantum mechanical models of biological systems and processes
  • Perform molecular dynamics simulations with quantum corrections (QM/MM methods)
  • Study quantum coherence, tunneling, and entanglement in biological contexts
  • Simulate protein-ligand interactions using density functional theory (DFT)
  • Model photosynthetic complexes and light-harvesting systems
  • Investigate enzymatic mechanisms and quantum tunneling in catalysis
  • Analyze electron and proton transfer in biological redox reactions
  • Develop computational tools for quantum biology research
  • Collaborate with experimental biologists and chemists to validate models
  • Publish research findings in interdisciplinary journals
